Brain Tumours Suck! If only it was as simple to treat as it was to say but it just isn't, I'm afraid. When I was diagnosed back in January 2016, although there was support out there nobody told me about it. In fact all that I did know at that time was that I had a brain tumour, not what type or how big, if it was cancerous or benign just that I had one pressing on my frontal lobe and that I was being urgently referred to a neurosurgeon and unfortunately I'm not alone. Nearly 80% of people that I've spoken to since my initial diagnosis were only told the bare minimum too and I won't even get started on how most of us were told about our tumours but that is partly why I'm here and I will get to it.
I'm now in recovery after having my tumour removed and suffering through several complications and although I did find some charitable support in the later part of my treatment I felt so alone in my journey because I had no one to talk to, no one told me what to expect from my tests or operations or even my complications and I want that to change. I spent most of my time between fear and trying to protect my friends and family from what I was really feeling.
I felt I had to be strong for everyone else and I bet I'm not alone in that either, so I'm starting a web-series on YouTube, I'll talk about everything from CT Scans to recovering from a crainiotomy and hopefully everything inbetween too. I'll be honest with you all about the pain, frustration and the funny moments while hopefully guiding you to the charities that can offer you the most support you'll feel comfortable accepting.
The web-series is called "Head Cases & Brain Farts" and will be out once a week with the first webisode going public on the 1st December 2017. I'm always looking for idea's and help, especially with filming and editing so if you want to help, ask me to talk about something or even interview someone please use the get in touch page here on my website and I'll get back to you as soon as humanly possible.
